German composer Max Reger was born in Bavaria. In 1888, when he was in his early teens, he heard Wagner’s Die Meistersinger and Parsifal at the famous Bayreuth Festival. In addition to organ works, Reger wrote choral and orchestral works, chamber music, songs, a piano concerto, sonatas for unaccompanied violin, three suites for solo viola, and more. The 12 Klavierstücke were written between 1898-1902.
