There’s two really wonderful examples of game development in display this month - two titles that really exemplify the philosophy of the companies behind them.
First up is a game that is, on the surface, a bright, fast, explosive shooter. But if you look deeper into Overwatch - and especially its characters - you’ll see Blizzard at its best. Every map, nearly every detail, every design choice on the character models, tells a part of the game’s story. And it’s a remarkably... oddly, gentle one. Sure, it doesnt’ really impact the game itself, but it’s nice knowing it’s there. And as a game, it’s a masterwork of polish and restraint.
