Australian multi-instrumentalist, producer and songwriter Rod McCormack may not be a household name, but he’s recorded alongside many top artists, including Lee Kernaghan, as well as being an integral member of Golden Guitar winning outfit The Wheel. Fingerprints, his long-awaited debut album, was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with a bunch of top class US musicians. It’s distinctly bluegrass, McCormack’s preferred musical genre, and his easygoing but precise vocals suit the format. ‘Shimmers’, the livewire first single, and the quieter story song ‘Ballad Of Willie Johnson’, draw the listener in from the start, as does his duets with US bluegrass star Claire Lynch on ‘It Was Love’ and ‘Wherever You Go’. Well produced, classy and arguably the outstanding country album of 2019.
