At Send IT we embrace a flexible approach to match procedures and rules and are always open to discuss new ideas to improve our offering. With this in mind, we tackled the 2024 ULTRA event with a new expanded format. It included two additional ranges and minor changes to the shooting format, now allowing Send IT to accommodate even more shooters. It cements the ULTRA as a premier, multi-day ELR event accessible to a large number of shooters. This year the exhibition was held over its historic three-day timeframe. There was about a 15% increase in exhibitors over 2023, taking it to just short of 400. There were a few I could not quite fit in with the ‘HuntEx’ concept, but there were folk at their stands purchasing their products, so who am I to judge. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I could not attend on my usual day and had to move my visit out to the Sunday. The 2024 Warrior Grind was held at Die Klipskuur farm in the Heidelberg district close to Vaal Marina on the Vaal dam over the weekend of 18 to 19 May. Traditionally, by now the Highveld is already cold, but this year we seemed to be having a late summer and autumn. Early morning temperatures were in the 6° range warming up to 25° by late morning, making for a mild weathered shooting experience. Driving up to the shooting area on the dry farm roads was an interesting experience due to there being absolutely no wind; causing the dust to hang in the air, creating a veiled curtain that obscured your vision in the early morning sun. We invited Frikkie Cronje to explain his new external weights. Zero Runout started as a search for better performance in the Long range game. The first product that came out was the MagnetoSpeed Mounts that moved the MagnetoSpeed off the barrel. This was a game changer for the Long range shooters in South Africa as you could shoot a match with your chronograph attached to your rifle with no negative harmonic effect. It is located to the south of the Swartkops Airforce base with over a kilometre of shooting fields, including two skeet fields, two universal trench fields, and eight trap fields used for ATA, DTL, and the trap double events. The club’s caterers supplied breakfast and lunch and a cash bar. Centurion Gun Club is open to the public and for corporate events. The CTSASA is the governing body for clay target sports-shooting in South Africa and commemorates its 70th anniversary this year.
