Spark it up!
I don’t know about you but I’m already over the whole ‘we’ll-all-be-drivingelectric-cars-in-1,2,3,4,5,10,50-years’ that both new (Facebook, Twitter, etc) and old (TV, radio, newspapers) media seem to be gleefully championing at the moment.
Not helping are cynical governments bandying around ‘end-of’ dates (2040 in the UK and France, and 2025 in Norway) or companies like Volvo putting out a press release saying that it would be building only hybrids by 2021.
Most of it is good old scare-mongering, case in point the Volvo press release. At no point did anyone from the company say in it that they were going ‘all-electric.’ Company chief executive Hakan Samuelson did say that (and I quote) ‘This announcement marks the end of the ‘solely combustion engine-powered car,’ but that was it.
Right…
