Philippine durians have received government attention and promotion since the year 1986. The locally cultivated 101 durians have golden yellow flesh and look very attractive. The taste is not bad too, quite similar to the ones in Malaysia. While countries on the Asian continent such as Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam are actively promoting their local durians, it may seem convenient to overlook the durians grown in the island nation of the Philippines.
“Surrounded by the sea, exporting to huge foreign markets such as China has become a big challenge. Due to this, many people tend to ignore our durians,” said Mr. Emmanuel Belviz.
