The UK has only hosted the World Champs once before, in 2007, when the best downhill, four-cross, cross-country and trials riders on the planet battled it out on the hallowed slopes of Fort William’s Nevis Range. Hopes were high for a British win in the DH, with Steve Peat hotly tipped until he snapped off his saddle, and the likes of the Athertons, Tracy Moseley, Marc Beaumont (repping Team MBUK-Santa Cruz), Fionn Griffiths, Brendan Fairclough, Helen Gaskell and Neil Donoghue all in the mix.
