NOTE: To best enjoy this scenario, please do not read the notes, events or clue table prior to play as that will ruin some of the surprises in the scenario. The terrain required is relatively simple and based on scenarios in the Rangers of Shadowdeep (RoS) rulebook. DIGITAL ATLANTIC Some upcoming 3d prints you can download Wargames Atlantic are increasingly offering digital releases to supplement their had plastic models and – as they’ve demonstrated – if they are popular enough they often transition them to boxed sets of styrene. Three new ranges upcoming or just released are Great War Alpini, (in the Great War range), Carolingian Infantry in scale armour (in their Blood Oath’s range) and Assyrian Armoured Cavalry (in their First Empires range). INTRODUCTION If you visit the city of Caen today you can be forgiven for not realising that most of buildings are replicas of what had stood there for centuries. By the end of the titanic struggle for Caen the population had dropped by over 40,000 to 17,000. Some 30,000 Anglo-Canadian soldiers were killed in the fighting to liberate the city along with 3,000 inhabitants and 80% of Caen’s buildings. German casualties were catastrophic and certainly contributed a huge percentage of the 30,000 killed, 80,000 wounded and 210,000 taken prisoner during the Normandy campaign. After last months Halflings Paul paints some challenging camo on some Warlord plastics. Ed. INTRODUCTION This type of camouflage was used by SS soldiers from 1942 until the end of the war. Jackets, smocks, tunics, trousers, zeltbahns (a sort of poncho-tent) and helmet covers were all made from this cloth pattern. These were all made out of a reversible material for spring and autumn camouflage. I have actually used the Warlord Games German Army Panzer Grenadiers for this tutorial. This is a versatile box as – although Warlord make a plastic boxed set specifically for SS troops – this earlier set is suitable for both Heer and SS. INTRODUCTION As happens with many wargamers, the inspiration for the DAK ATTACK rules came from watching a film. The film in question was Sea of Sand which is about a daring mission in North Africa during WWII undertaken by a small mobile force called The Long Range Desert Group [LRDG].
