FOREVER SUMMER
If, like us, you’re mourning the increasingly distant memories of a summer holiday on the Med, might we suggest you get yourself over to Oma, on the first floor of London’s Borough Market? Inspired by the sun-soaked Greek islands, this new restaurant is the work of David Carter, founder of Smokestak and co-founder of Manteca(averygoodItalianrestaurant that, incidentally, you should also pay a visit to). The interiors, designed by Box 9, are soft and soothing – a palette of eucalyptus, stone and dark wood, with plaster-textured walls, cushioned seating and gentle downlights. And then there’s the food, of course: fresh fish from a 2.5-metre-long raw bar, wood-fired breads, hearty youvetsi cooked in traditional clay pots. It’s good stuff – enough, we think, to tide you over till next summer.…
