Not an uncommon pest in the greenhouse, the glasshouse whitefly is one to look out for if you’re growing under cover
WHAT IS IT?
Adult glasshouse whitefly, almost all female, are tiny (2mm) white delta shaped moth-like insects whose wings are covered with a white, waxy material. Eggs are laid without the need for fertilisation, and the resultant sap-sucking nymphs, flat and oval in shape, thrive underneath leaves of a very wide range of plants, including aubergines, cucumbers, melons and peppers. Being a tropical insect, it only affects indoor plants.
