AURORA AUSTRALIS
Aurora australis is the southern hemisphere version of aurora borealis! Known as ‘the southern lights’, the phenomenon appears like a sheet of light or a glow, with the strongest point as an oval centered on the south magnetic pole. The light usually appears as a green curtain, but can sometimes be red, and a few other colours on rare occasions. The best place to see aurora australis is Antarctica, but it can also be seen in southern Australia (particularly Tasmania), New Zealand, southern Chile, Argentina, and sometimes South Africa.
