UK TO HOST OPENING ROUND OF 2023 WORLD SUPERCROSS

Villa Park, home ground of England’s famous Aston Villa football team, will be transformed into a dirt arena for the opening round of the 2023 FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) this coming July. Adam Bailey, CEO of WSX series organisers SX Global, said the Championship’s return to Britain for its second season will build on the success of last year’s opening round that was held in Cardiff, Wales. “We had 35,000 fans turn out at Principality Stadium for our first Grand Prix, which showed just how passionate British fans are about the sport and the appetite they have for World Supercross Championship racing on home soil,” Bailey said. “Now, it’s Birmingham’s turn to host the WSX season opener. WAKEFIELD PARK SOLD

Following its closure to all motorsport-related activity in September last year, there’s hope for racing to return to Wakefield Park under new ownership. On 14 March, it was revealed that Steve Shelley, who owns and operates the Pheasant Wood Circuit (a smaller track located around 30km to the east of Goulburn) had purchased Wakefield Park from the Benalla Auto Club (BAC). As previously reported, the NSW Land and Environment Court (NSW LEC) imposed a ruling in mid-July last year relating to noise restrictions at the circuit. This reduced operations to just 30 days per year, making it unfeasible to continue, so the BAC closed the circuit on 1 September, 2022. CFMoto have expanded their range of single-cylinder commuters with the arrival of the 300 CL-X. Combining the neo-retro styling of the 700 CL-X Heritage with the proven drivetrain of the 300NK and 300SR, the 300CL-X is available now. LAMS legal, the 300 CL-X is powered by a fuel-injected, DOHC, 292cc single-cylinder engine producing 20.5kW (27.9hp) at 8750rpm and 25Nm at 7000rpm. While the engine capacity and outputs are the same as the 300NK, upgraded engine mounts reduce vibration, while a forged piston reduces weight and inertia. MOTOE LAUNCHES 2023 SEASON

The 2023 Enel FIM MotoE World Championship held its season launch at the Vallelunga Circuit in Italy on 17 March, ahead of a season start at Le Mans in May. This season marks the beginning of a new era for the electric bike category, with the biggest change being that MotoE now has World Championship status. Additionally, Ducati will make their debut as manufacturer for all bikes on the grid, replacing Energica, and this year’s series will be the biggest since the first MotoE World Cup in 2019, with eight rounds on the 2023 calendar. Since its foundation in 1977, German aftermarket tuning and modification firm Brabus has worked their magic exclusively on Mercedes-Benz and closely related members of the Benz family, like Smart and Maybach. That all changed last year, when Brabus announced their first Porsche and Rolls-Royce models. In 2022, Brabus also revealed their first-ever motorcycle.
