SX Global, the Australian company that secured the rights earlier this year to promote the FIM Supercross World Championship, has announced Chad Reed as their latest big name signing, with the famous Aussie rider coming out of retirement to contest the new-look ‘WSX’ (World Supercross) Championship series. Harley-Davidson used this year’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in the US to unveil a new factory custom paint option dubbed ‘Apex’, which will be available on a handful of 2022 Grand American Touring models. In a similar vein to the ‘Arctic Blast’ custom paint that was unveiled at Sturgis last year, Apex paint will only be offered for the remainder of 2022. But unlike Arctic Blast, which was only available on the MY21 Street Glide Special and limited to 500 units (8 of which were allocated for Australia), Apex paint will be more widely available and offered on more than one model, too. Storied Italian scooter brand Lambretta is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year, and as part of the celebrations, they’ve unveiled two new models – the G350 and X300. Of the two, the G350 has a classic scooter look and will be a premium model in the 2023 range, while the X300 is more modern in appearance and kicks off a new naming convention for Lambretta, too. LAMBRETTA G350 The G350 was first seen at EICMA back in 2019, when it was presented as the ‘G325 Special’. CFMoto have added to their Australian Side-by-Side range with the arrival of the ZFORCE 1000 Sport R that’s larger, more powerful and more sports-focussed than the ZFORCE 1000 Sport it’s based on. At 1,626mm wide, the Sport R is 102mm wider than the Sport and also features a longer wheelbase (2,285mm v 2,040mm), while larger 29-inch tyres (27-inch on the Sport) contribute to an increase in ground clearance, at 340mm compared to the Sport’s 310mm. The Sport’s 14-inch wheels are upgraded to beadlock units on the Sport R to facilitate running at lower tyre pressures. Australia has taken out the 2022 FIM Speedway of Nations, with the three-rider team achieving the nation’s first victory at this level since the FIM Speedway World Cup in 2002. In its fifth year under the new format that replaced the Speedway World Cup in 2018, this year’s Speedway of Nations (SoN) was held in Vojens, Denmark, with the semis, final and grand final all held at the same venue over four days. With Suzuki to withdraw from MotoGP at the end of this season, Alex Rins, one of Team Suzuki Ecstar’s two riders, has found a new home with Honda Racing Corporation and will ride for Lucio Cecchinello’s LCR Honda Castrol team in 2023 and 2024.
