Royal Enfield’s modernisation of their range continues with the release of an all-new version of the Classic 350, that combines this model’s signature old school look with a completely new chassis and drivetrain. AUSTRALIAN MOTORCYCLE SALES INCREASE IN 2021

After 2020’s “COVID boom” in new motorcycle sales in Australia, numbers increased again in 2021, with 123,530 new motorcycles and OHVs sold for the calendar year, according to data released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) in January. Of the four main market segments – Road, Off-Road, OHV (including SxS and ATVs) and Scooter – all enjoyed healthy sales increases in 2021, with total sales for the year a 13.4 per cent increase on 2020’s total of 108,926. It should be noted that the 2021 numbers, like those of previous years, are based on FCAI members’ sales only and do not include sales from non-FCAI importers like Urban Moto Imports (Royal Enfield, MV Agusta, Benelli, Segway, Peugeot Motocycles, Super Soco), Mojo Motorcycles (CFMoto, Sherco, Kymco) and others. NEW ENTRY RULES FOR FINKE DESERT RACE

Organisers of the annual Tatts Finke Desert Race have announced dates for the 2022 running of the two-day event, along with new entry criteria for competitors. In consultation with Motorcycling Australia (MA), all Bike category entrants must now hold a senior national MA licence by the time entries for the 2022 race close (entries opened on 1 February, 2022). They must also declare recent off-road racing experience at international, national or state-level when applying. This is to “satisfy organisers of their capability”. Recent experience can include previous Finke starts or racing at events like the Condo 750 and Hattah Desert Race at national level, or competing in the Dakar and FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship at international level. CFMOTO OFFERS NEW LIVERY FOR 300SR

CFMoto are expanding the colour options for their 300SR small LAMS sportsbike, with a new tri-colour option added for 2022. Joining the existing Nebula Black and Turquoise Blue is a new orange, blue and white combination in a similar style to the Turquoise Blue option. This bold colour combo features orange on the forward part of the sports-styled fairing and fuel tank, with blue on the lower part and at the rear. AORC CONFIRMS 2022 CALENDAR

The 2022 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship, presented by MXstore (AORC), has updated its 12-round calendar for the 2022 season, which will visit four states, with some new venues on the calendar and double-headers at each venue. After COVID-19 saw the 2020 AORC calendar compromised and only two rounds completed in 2021, there are hopes for a full season this year. The initial draft calendar for 2022 had no venue listed for rounds 1 and 2, but this since been confirmed as Cherrabah in Queensland (south of Warwick, near the NSW border) with the originally scheduled date now changed to 19-20 March.
