Royal Enfield have refreshed their 650 twins, adding new colours and cleaner, more efficient engines to what’s been their most popular model in Australia and New Zealand. The first Royal Enfield models created with global markets in mind, the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 were the result of collaboration between the manufacturer’s tech centres in India and UK. Since they were launched in 2018, more than 10,000 units of the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 have been sold in the Asia Pacific region, accounting for just over 61 per cent of all Royal Enfield sales for the region. Chaz Davies has called time on his career in World Superbikes, announcing he will retire from racing in the category at the end of this season. The 34-year-old made the announcement on 24 September at the Jerez WSBK round, which he was not competing in due to broken ribs suffered in an accident at the previous round. When he makes his final race start (most likely at Mandalika in November), Davies will draw the curtain on a tenure in WSBK that has lasted ten years and a career in professional road racing that’s even longer. Ahead of their local release later this year, Honda has provided details of their CB500 range for 2022. All three members of the LAMS family – CB500F naked, CBR500R sports and CB500X adventure tourer-have been treated to upgrades, covering engine, braking, suspension and weight distribution, with further details applied to individual models, including styling tweaks and new colours. ACROSS THE RANGE All three CB500 variants run the same 471cc liquid-cooled 8-valve parallel twin engine, six-speed transmission and chain final drive. Remy Gardner has taken the next step in his progression to MotoGP after his first laps aboard the KTM RC16 at the Official MotoGP Misano Test on 22 September.
