David Walsh won his second King of the Desert crown at the 2021 Finke Desert race, while Toby Price became the first person to win both the car and motorcycle categories in the event’s history. This year’s Finke was marred by the death of a spectator following an incident on the second day involving one of the car competitors. Emergency services’ response to the incident saw the car leg abandoned after approximately 80 competitors had completed the return to Alice, and with a section of the track declared a crime scene, it was decided to cancel the rest of the event before the return leg for the motorcycle competitors got underway. If you’re taking any adventure bike into remote areas of Australia, you’re going to encounter dust – lots of it. The Pan America will be no different, which means being able to remove and clean the air filter yourself is essential. The Pan America owner’s manual recommends servicing by a Harley-Davidson dealership, so I asked technicians at Harley-Davidson’s Sydney office how to get to the air filter for servicing and replacement. The H-D technicians were very helpful and showed, step by step, how to access the air filter.
