Yamaha Motor Australia has released a special 60th Anniversary Edition of the retro-styled SR400 single. BMW has launched the latest generation of its C 650 Sport and C 650 GT maxi scooters. The C 650 Sport replaces the previous C 600 Sport, with both new models now featuring an extensively modified drivetrain, retuned suspension and increased standard features. The twin cylinder 44kW/63Nm 647cc engines have been retuned, with a new stainless steel exhaust system and significantly upgraded CVT transmission to deliver more responsive acceleration, a higher (180km/h) top speed and EU4 emission compliance. Revised suspension tuning and damping front and rear provides the optimal balance of dynamic handling and ride comfort. Indian Motorcycle has presented the first it what will be a series of locallyinspired Limited Edition versions of the Scout. Launched at the end of April, the Limited Edition (LE) combines a number of retroinspired styling features with accessories from the Indian Genuine Accessory catalogue. The debut Scout LE features a 1920s-style solo tan leather seat, chrome wire wheels and a custom two-tone fuel tank. The hand-painted tank features a cream centre section, gold coachline and a painted Indian ‘warbonnet’ logo. Limited to just 10 copies, the Scout LE is priced from $20,995 ride away (which Indian Motorcycle claims includes $3,000 of extra value), but may have sold out by the time you read this. Following their unveiling at last year’s EICMA show in Milan, Moto Guzzi’s new V9 ‘Bobber’ and ‘Roamer’ models are due for local release shortly. While both variants are identifiably Moto Guzzi, the V9 is an all-new platform for the brand, with a new 853cc 90-degree transverse v-twin, based on the engine from the V7 range. The air- and oil-cooled v-twin features a bore and stroke increase over the V7, to 84mm and 74mm, respectively, with power listed at 40.4kW @ 6250rpm and torque at 62Nm @ 3000rpm. Honda’s CB500 LAMS range is complete, with the recent arrival of the updated CB500F. Sharing its 471cc 4-stroke twin-cylinder powerplant and steel diamond tube frame with the dual sport CB500X and sports CBR500R, the new CB500F naked is described by Honda as “an injection of adrenaline” for the 500cc class and is identified by an all-new, more aggressive look. The 500F adds a shot of streetfighter style with its stripped-back and angular tank, headlight and plastics, and is a bold evolution from the previous model. Other new features include a lightweight exhaust, larger 16.7-litre fuel tank, preload adjustable front suspension, LED lighting and an adjustable brake lever. Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team’s Jorge Lorenzo, will ride for the Ducati Team in 2017 and 2018. The move, arguably the biggest in Lorenzo’s career to date, was announced on 18 April, ahead of the Jerez MotoGP round. The three-time MotoGP World Champion has reportedly been sought by Ducati since 2009, only a year after he made his premier class debut with Yamaha. Numerous reasons for Lorenzo’s switch to Ducati have been speculated, from friction between he and team mate Valentino Rossi, to a lack of Yamaha support and “No. 1” status within the team, to a much bigger pay cheque. If you’ve never heard of a KZ 750 Kawasaki, you’re not alone (it had the JUST BIKES crew scratching their heads, too!). It was only produced for a brief period (1976 to ’83), and amongst Kawasaki’s other four-cylinder ‘Z’ models of both smaller and larger capacities, it got a bit lost. As such, its selection as the basis for this custom is all the more notable.
