In the early 2000s, I bought the beautiful, but anonymous, ribbon bar of a Saxon officer that is the subject of this article. In this feature, I will detail how I went about identifying the original owner of this piece of history, and highlight the military career of the man behind the medals.
It is easier to identify an officer’s bar than a non-commissioned officer’s or enlisted man’s bar (unless it comes directly from the family). In order to be able to undertake such research, the collector must have a well stocked library.
