CUT OUT DISTRACTIONS Link Your Focus Mode & Lock Screen An exciting expansion of Focus in iOS 16 is being able to set specific Lock or Home Screens for different Focus modes, allowing an easy way to switch modes as well as have a visual reminder of what mode you’re in. To set up, open your Settings app then tap Focus. Select the Focus mode you’d like to create the screen for. Under Customize Screens, choose a Lock Screen, Home Screen, and/or Apple Watch screen to come on when you enter that Focus. Track Your Medications in the Health App You can now keep track of all your medications in one place! Not only is this convenient for reminding you to take your vitamins, but this can be potentially lifesaving if you take time-sensitive medication. Open your Health app, tap Browse, and tap Medications. If you haven’t added one before, tap Add a Medication on the Set Up Medications screen that pops up. Fix Your Text Mistakes We all know the horror of a text we didn’t mean to send. Whether it was an egregious typo thanks to a last-second autocorrect or an awkward joke that ended up going to the wrong person, up until now there was nothing you could do. As of iOS 16, you can edit or even unsend a message! Just long press on the message in question until a menu pops up. Then tap Undo Send or Edit. If you select Edit, correct your message then tap the checkmark. Important note: edits or erased messages will only show up if the person you’re texting also has iOS 16. Save Time & Skip the Confirmation Many people enjoy the convenience of sending messages with Siri but find the confirmation step unnecessary and annoying. I’ve even run into times when I mess up the confirmation and cancel the whole text. With iOS 16, you can skip this step entirely and send the text straightaway. Open Settings and tap Siri & Search, then tap Automatically Send Messages. Toggle Automatically Send Messages on. Create the Lock Screen of Your Dreams Before, you could choose a background image for your Lock Screen and that was it. Now you can create several Lock Screens and switch between them. Tap and hold your Lock Screen until you see the option to Customize. Tap the blue plus icon. Here you’ll see the Add New Wallpaper menu where you can find preset themes, like weather and astronomy. Say Goodbye to Duplicates Duplicate photos take up valuable storage space and make it harder to keep your photos organized. With iOS 16, you can put an end to duplicates once and for all! Just open your Photos app, go to the Albums tab, and scroll all the way to the bottom. Under Utilities, tap Duplicates. Your iPhone will show you duplicate photos.
