Landscape designer Adam Robinson describes this captivating courtyard in Sydney’s east as “the warm face of minimalism”. To many, merino wool seems oh-so-Australian, but it’s taken the creativity and nous of a New York marketing specialist to create world-first superfine merino sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers. Canadian-born Indi McCullough says the idea for luxe merino-wool bed linen first popped up while she was shopping in New York. “I was looking for linen at Bloomingdales with my husband [Stuart McCullough, former MD of The Woolmark Company] and he said, ‘It’s interesting that Americans don’t sleep surrounded by wool.’ I immediately baulked at that as I thought of wool heritage blanket brands that are itchy, scratchy and too hot.
