Lollapalooza
January 28-29, Mumbai
The big one. Lollapalooza began in the early ’90s as a goodbye tour for American alt-rockers Jane’s Addiction. Today, it’s a colossal worldwide festival that is making its debut in India, in Mumbai in January. They have a smashing line-up, with Imagine Dragons—those same guys who made ‘Radioactive Power’ song with Kanye West—and American indie-rock sensations of the early 2000s, the Strokes, headlining. It’s a diverse roster of artists, as A.P. Dhillon, Diplo, Prateek Kuhad, Divine, Cigarettes After Sex, Japanese Breakfast, all take the stage across its two days. We say this about every festival, but: could this be the festival that opens India up as a viable touring destination for the super big international pop/rockstars?
