After a 10-year break, the 61-year-old Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad, better known as Chiranjeevi, is back, playing the title role in Khaidi No. 150, his 150th film. “I am making a comeback, prompted by the pressure of fans and demands of producers,” explains Chiranjeevi, adding, “Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth suggested publicly that 149 films is not the number to stop at.” Enthused by the response to the film, a remake of the Tamil Katthi, he has already begun work on a second—a period piece, inspired by the exploits of the 19th century freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, in Rayalaseema, Andhra Pradesh—to hit the screens by October.
