When the invitation arrived to visit the SophiaHelen Design studio, to have a look at their new fabric and wallpaper collection, I looked twice at the address. I know Paint & Décor in Durbanville and I know Jani, who has been writing for Ideas for several years, but who on earth was SophiaHelen? For the more intricate design above the door, we used carbon paper to trace all the elements. Paint the different sections using a thin art paintbrush and use the colours of your choice. Please note: This little rustic square pattern featured on multiple social media posts during the past few years and although many people have tried to trace the original designer of the pattern they have not been successful. Instagrammers also participated in the global search for the original designer. The pattern has been traced back to an old crochet book published by the media house Allers in Sweden in the early 1980s and to a similar book in Argentina, from about the same period, but there is no mention of the original designer.
