AS the 2025 Champion Hurdler Golden Ace began to power away up the Cheltenham hill under her disbelieving jockey Lorcan Williams, the television cameras panned to the wildly gyrating line of connections willing the gallant little bay mare over the line. Only one man, the tall, still figure of trainer Jeremy Scott, stood with arms folded, his face a picture of bemusement.
“When it all panned out in front of me, it felt surreal, but very nice,” says Jeremy, who, 10 days later, still looks bleary-eyed after what he confesses has been “a boozy week”.
“It’s actually been quite tiring, but you’ve got to milk it,” he says.
It was left to his wife Camilla to lead the staff celebrations at a local pub that evening – vigorous partying precluded…
