THE Billy Stud’s second online auction raised nearly £500,000, with almost all the horses staying in British hands.
All 27 sold, one to the US, but “they’ve mainly stayed in the UK, which is really nice,” the stud’s William Funnell told H&H.
The first such sale, in 2016, involved 10 three-year-olds.
“We upped the ante,” William said, adding the two top lots sold for over £110,000 in total, and the average price was £17,200.
“We put some top young horses in and they’ve gone to really good riders and producers. It’s always nice to see horses go to good pros; who will give them every chance.”
William said the aim for next year is to “up the ante again”.
