CEULAN CALON LAN proved he is a golden boy in more ways than one, when the palomino left Royal Welsh Show with a handful of titles, including a ticket to the Cuddy final.
Horse entries totalled 3,176, with 2,184 in-hand exhibits, and Jennie Loriston-Clarke selected Ceulan Calon Lan as her in-hand champion.
The seven-year-old Welsh mountain pony, who is owned by newlyweds Rhydian and Bethan Donati (see box, above right), also stood reserve supreme of show — behind Michael Howell’s champion driving exhibit Gwenllan Gwilym — the judges applauding his natural, unshod action.
Judge Mike Daley, who awarded Calon Lan the in-hand palomino championship, said: “His action is up and beyond his age — he really is exciting to watch.”
