Spicy chickpea soup with sumac and yoghurt SERVES 4 2 Tbsp olive oil1 large brown onion, finely chopped2 large carrots, peeled and diced4 celery stalks, peeled and diced4 cloves garlic, crushed2 Tbsp sweet paprika1 tsp each freshly ground cuminand coriander1½ tsp whole fennel seeds400g drained cooked (or canned) chickpeas1–2 tsp sea saltBlack pepper, to taste1 litre low-salt chicken stock¾ cup / 100g pearl barleyPinch sumacDollop plain yoghurt Put the oil in a saucepan over a medium heat. Strawberries and cream porridge SERVES 4 It’s a calm, motionless morning and not a single leaf has moved since dawn. The light is pure, pale and clear, filtering through the bush and into our home. What do you hope this space will convey about twenty seven names? First and foremost we wanted to create a unique space. It had to be beautiful and it had to lend itself to creating a welcoming and intimate shopping experience. For us it’s all about making our customers feel comfortable when they are in store. “Just being home amongst all of our weird and wonderful things sparks a lot of joy.” I’m always on the hunt – especially for secondhand furniture. One cane chair came from a market in Rotorua and I bought our 80s dining table off the YMCA where I play indoor soccer. My boyfriend Robin is the same – he found the vintage George Nelson light that hangs in our bedroom in a junk store and restored some bent chrome chairs for the lounge.
