Of course, children and teens will probably expect store-bought gifts, but many of us are lucky to already have enough “stuff”, and love to receive something more personal. Remember the environment: Christmas Day is generally frantic, and it might be tempting to use plastic, throw-away plates, cups, cutlery and serviettes, but it is much better to honour your gathering with your best fine china, glassware, cutlery and napery.
Don’t waste: Avoid spoilage of food – don’t be tempted to put too much food on the table at the one time, especially on hot days. Promptly put leftovers in the fridge/freezer so they don’t spoil, and compost all food scraps that can’t be used as leftovers.
