When the Ollasons bought the original house, they loved it, but knew there was something missing. From an early age, Sara Winfield felt naturally compelled to explore her creativity. She would happily sew scraps of fabric together to make clothes or take paints out into the paddocks to capture the beautiful energy of the flowing creek on the family farm. Her strong affinity with textiles won out in the end, and she began studying fashion design. Halfway through her studies, she dropped out, and a lecturer encouraged her to pursue art. A new extension on an old villa needed a brand-new heart of the home to match. Carrera Kitchens was tasked with the brief of building a kitchen that is not only warm and inviting, but also complements the new extension. One of the main design considerations included creating an open-plan space for the whole family to enjoy, a place to prepare food freely and entertain guests without the constraints of a compact design.
