When Franko and his wife Wendy were holidaying overseas a decade or so ago, he was perusing an art gallery and had an epiphany. “I can paint that,” he thought. So, arriving back home, he painted some large artworks and the feedback from friends and family was swift and encouraging. “They said, ‘Hey, that’s great, you should sell that’ and I was thinking, this might be my next thing. Forward 10 years and what a ride!”
Franko describes himself as a multidisciplinary artist working in abstract, urban pop, industrial and abstract realism. He enjoys experimentation and working with mixed media. “I use acrylics, oils, texture, petrol, enamels, sugars, turps, water, WD40, window cleaner, fire, anything and everything to create texture and interest,” he laughs.
It’s not just the creative process…
