KEF has relaunched its R Series, with seven new models all including a 12th-generation Uni-Q driver with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT). This performance-enhancing tech, which first appeared on KEF's LS50 Meta standmount and more recently its Reference Meta and Blade Meta lines, adds a circular absorber with a maze-like surface behind the centrally mounted tweeter. The company says this acts as 'an acoustic black hole', delivering a cleaner output.
The new R Series, like the previous generation (see HCC #307), is aimed at both hi-fi and home cinema setups, with three floorstanding models, one standmount, two centre channel speakers and a Dolby Atmos-enabled upfirer.
