Recent data published by the Polish Public Opinion Research Center (CBOS) showcases the significant growth of the country’s medical cannabis program. As of 2019, 2,909 medical cannabis prescriptions were recorded for Polish patients, but in 2022 that number increased to 108,847, followed by 276,807 in 2023. This significant increase in prescriptions was also seen in the amount of cannabis (in weight) that pharmacies have issued, starting with 33.2 kg (approximately 73 pounds) in 2019 and eventually rising to 4,659 kg (10,271 pounds) in 2023. The poll also showed that 73.4% of Polish residents said that they support cannabis decriminalization. Medical cannabis was legalized in Poland on July 20, 2017.
