Every generation has a particular fondness for the music of its formative years. If you grew up in the ’60s that would surely include The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan, etc. The ’70s embraced ABBA, Led Zep and latterly, heavy metal and punk, but it was the ’80s that saw the rise of synthesised sounds as the central ‘instrument’ of songs and entire albums. OMD, The Human League, Ultravox, Pet Shop Boys and even hard rockers Van Halen were in the driving seat of this particular vanguard.
