Posing for their traditional summer portrait (left), the Dutch royal family enjoyed a day of sun, sea, sand – and a strong breeze – on the beach. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima and their daughters, Princesses Catharina-Amalia, Alexia and Ariane, were joined on the Zuiderstrand by family dog Mambo. The toy poodle, who was adopted by Willem-Alexander, 56, and Máxima, 52, in 2021, didn’t seem over-pawed by the occasion, showing he really is the jewel in the family crown as he was swept up by the Queen for a cuddle.
It’s no surprise that the prized pooch took a lead role in the proceedings – the royal family have long included their beloved dogs in their informal portraits.
