‘Vivienne is gone and the world is already a less interesting place’Chrissie Hynde The fashion world is in mourning after Dame Vivienne Westwood, the “godmother of punk” and global fashion powerhouse, died last week at the age of 81.
The legendary designer, whose rebellious ingenuity won her a legion of famous fans from supermodels and rock stars to Hollywood’s finest and even royalty, passed away “peacefully and surrounded by her family” at home in Clapham, South London.
Tributes immediately arrived from around the world, including from model Bella Hadid, who walked at Dame Vivienne’s last Paris fashion show in October. “To the coolest, most fun, incredible, humble, creative, badass, intelligent, EPIC human being that has walked this earth… rest in love and Rest In Peace,” she said.
