The BBC has donated the £1.42m it generated from its controversial Martin Bashir interview with the Princess of Wales to seven different charities. The money will be split between organisations with a close link to Princess Diana: Centrepoint, English National Ballet, National Aids Trust, Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, Leprosy Mission and The Diana Award. Recent investigations, led by Lord Dyson, into the 1995 Panorama interview found that Martin used deceitful and dishonest measures to gain access to Diana, including the use of forged documents, and that his tactics were covered up by the corporation.
