They are, according to many, the greatest rock’n’roll band ever – and after 60 years together, The Rolling Stones made a triumphant return to the London music scene with two performances over two weekends at British Summer Time Hyde Park.
Out in force to see the legends of rock were not only generations of family members, but also royalty in the shape of Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
Sir Mick Jagger, 78, looking flamboyant in an embroidered jacket, displayed characteristic energy as he danced, jumped and swaggered across the stage, joined by fellow veteran Stones members Keith Richards, also 78, and 75-year-old Ronnie Wood. Steve Jordan replaced drummer Charlie Watts, who died last year aged 80 and was remembered fondly by Sir Mick.
