Taking her seat beside Dame Vera’s daughter, Virginia Lewis-Jones, the mezzo-soprano called it a “huge honour” to attend the memorial. “And the blue skies were very appropriate,” she told HELLO!.
“I mentioned it to Virginia: ‘Blue skies for Dame Vera. Exactly as it should be.’” The abbey was “full of love for Vera”, as celebrities Alan Titchmarsh, Jonathan Dimbleby, Sir Tim Rice and Anthony Andrews joined Katherine to remember the wartime singer, who died in June 2020 aged 103.
