David Beckham’s second-eldest son has signed his first professional football contract. Romeo, 19, is following in his famous father’s footsteps by joining Fort Lauderdale CF, based in Florida. The USL League One club, in the third tier of US football, is also the reserve team for David Beckham’s own top-tier Major League Soccer club, Inter Miami CF.
Romeo is not the only son of a football superstar on the team: he joins Harvey Neville, the 19-year-old son of Phil Neville, Inter Miami’s head coach. Phil played alongside David at Manchester United.
Romeo posted the news on Instagram, captioning a photo of him kitted out in the team strip, about to kick a ball: “Follow your dreams.”
