Christine Keeler, the model and showgirl at the heart of the Profumo affair in the 1960s, has died aged 75. She had been suffering from chronic obstructive lung disease. Christine was just 19 when, in 1961, she began a relationship with 46-year-old Conservative politician John Profumo, the Secretary of State for War, who was married with a child. Their affair came to light two years later, at the height of the Cold War, when it was revealed that Christine had also been seeing Russian military attaché Yevgeny Ivanov.
