When ITV’s Cold Feet returned to our screens last September after an absence of 13 years, fans held their breath in anticipation. Would it capture the same charm, wit and warmth as the original story, which followed a group of 30-somethings as they navigated marriage, children, divorce and death?
The answer, much to the cast’s relief, was a resounding “Yes”. And last week saw the friends, who are now in their 50s, return to our screens once again.
“It was quite a high-risk strategy,” says Fay Ripley, whose feisty character Jenny is married to long-suffering Pete, played by John Thomson. “We could all see those headlines – ‘Old Feet’ – so it was a great relief that people enjoyed it.”
