His farewell appearance was in front of a UK audience: in keeping with his wishes, Rick Parfitt was given a private gig-themed send off at Woking Crematorium in front of his Status Quo bandmates, close friends, fans and family members. The rock veteran, who died aged 68 in Spain on Christmas Eve, following an infection, was remembered by his sons Rick Jr and Harry, along with his ex-wives Marietta Boeker and Patty Beedon and widow Lyndsay Parfitt.
Also attending were the current Quo line-up of Leon Cave, Andy Bown, John “Rhino” Edwards and Francis Rossi, who, like many of the guests, arrived in the band’s double-decker tour bus and wore lanyards attached to backstage-style passes.
