JIMMY PERRY Dad’s Army creator dies aged 93 Actor and writer Jimmy Perry, who was best known as the creator of classic comedies including Dad’s Army, Hi-De-Hi! and It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, has died aged 93. The comedy writer, whose much-loved shows were inspired by his wartime service in the Home Guard and post-war national service and early career in showbusiness, won an Ivor Novello award for the Dad’s Army theme song, Who Do You Think You Are Kidding, Mr Hitler?, as well as a British Comedy Award for lifetime achievement in 2003 alongside longtime co-writer David Croft, who died in 2011.
