It’s true, Jackson Pollock and his partner, Lee Krasner’s lifestyle was similar to the hipster movement of today, with the interest in organic, home-grown and foraged ingredients. People who don’t know me might presume I am self-conscious of the scar that wraps its way around my thigh like an out-of-control vine of twisted cords. It fully occupies the real estate of my upper left leg, starting above the knee and stopping at my bikini line. Before there was Kate and Cara, and even before there was Naomi, Claudia, Linda and Christy, there was Victoire Doutreleau, a Parisian beauty who captured the eye of Christian Dior in 1953 at the age of 18. As far as I know, it’s totally weird to have both your parents diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Anyone would say they can’t imagine one parent having a disease like this, wouldn’t they? For it to be both is shocking. My dad, Tom, found out he had MS in 1995 and my mum, Sally, was diagnosed in 2000. They were both 50.
