Dark, elemental and deeply experiential, this bathroom swallows you whole.
Set against the open and light drenched spaces that comprise the rest of the spaces of this home, the introverted bathroom design is Moby Architecture’s response to a client’s dichotomous brief, which sought connection to natural environment, openness, intimacy, stillness and mystery, all at once. With no windows and no relationship to the outside environment, the bathroom becomes a cocoon to which residents can retreat wholly from the demands of the day to day.
Playing into the client’s desire for a house that embodies a sense of mystery, the floorplan ensures an aspect of the cocoon-like shell is visible from every room in the house, while access to it is concealed within an auxiliary hallway.
