WHEN SIG SAUER INTRODUCED the P365 in the May 2018 issue of Guns & Ammo, it created a new trend for 1-inch-wide compact pistols in that it popularized the stack-and-a-half magazine that offered a standard capacity of 10 rounds, and optional extended magazines that could carry 12 or 13 rounds. GUNS & AMMO EDITORS, contributors and staff are set to declare the firearms industry’s award recipients for 2022. Only products made commercially available since the fourth quarter of 2021, and were not considered for last year’s awards, qualified for nomination. G&A’s staff had the chance to evaluate and discuss the merits of products in-person during the course of multiple firearm-industry events, including the annual Outdoor Sportsman Group (OSG) Roundtable in Grinnell, Iowa. Several editors and contributors attended training events and hunted with these products within the last 12 months for further evaluation. Products that were evaluated to be all-new designs, as well as those that had the best potential benefit to the widest range of readers, were given additional merit when scored. RUNNING LATE FOR MY complimentary class on the U.S. Constitution taught by Dr. Adam Carrington, I was greeted at the Civil War memorial statue between Lane and Kendall Halls by Emily Davis, director of Media Relations and Communications. Founded in 1844 by abolitionists, the Christian school had more than 400 students and alumni answer the call to serve between 1860 and ’65, 60 of whom died in defense of the Union. Dedicated in 1895, these alumni are still honored on the statue’s bronze plaques. Hillsdale College doesn’t give the outward physical impression of a 178-year-old institution; this is due to the “classical” Second Empire and Italianate architecture that makes this small school of only 1,600 feel spacious, safe, clean and smart. ON NOVEMBER 8TH, Americans will head to the polls to cast votes in races that reach nearly all levels of government. While much of the attention is focused on races for the U.S. Senate and gubernatorial matches, those won’t be the only ones on the ballot. BROWNING HI-POWER Q: I’ve been reading Guns & Ammo magazine since the early 1970s, and this is the first time I’ve written in. Garry, I always read your column first! My good friend Sam, in San Marcos, Texas, bought a fine example of a Browning Hi-Power years ago. The serial number is “67C21XXX”. According to the Browning website, this type of serial number sequence didn’t begin until 1969, but the first two letters of this serial number suggest a “1967” date of manufacture.
