IT WAS NOT A SURPRISE WHEN, late in 2020, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF, nssf.org), the trade association for the firearm industry, made the decision to cancel its annual Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show, which had been slated for Las Vegas, January 2021. It was another reminder that things are different in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic. For all of the obvious reasons, the cancellation was the right decision; you just can’t have crowds from all around the world, in the tens of thousands, congregating in a cramped convention centers.
