INTRODUCED IN 2016, Blackhawk designed the Omnivore to be that one holster capable of accepting an advertised “150 different styles of semiautomatic handguns.” If you’ve been shooting awhile, it’s likely that you have a collection of holsters for various firearms, so the prospect of having a single holster that will accept the majority of your pistols for around $60 is attractive. The firm’s full-color paperback books cover their subjects in considerable depth despite sometimes modest page counts. This cannot be better illustrated than in “Early Military Rifles 1740-1850.” Part of an Osprey series on firearms, this 80-page work is a superb handling of the subject. IT WAS NOT A SURPRISE WHEN, late in 2020, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF, nssf.org), the trade association for the firearm industry, made the decision to cancel its annual Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show, which had been slated for Las Vegas, January 2021. It was another reminder that things are different in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic.
