Pearl Jam are spoken about in the same breath, and are as respected as other grunge heavyweights, Nirvana and Soundgarden. Formed in Seattle, Washington, the birthplace of grunge, the band’s long-term line up has comprised singer Eddie Vedder, guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready, with Jeff Ament on bass and drummer Matt Cameron. Pearl Jam began their career in 1990, and in 1991 scored a huge hit with their debut album Ten which, along with Nirvana’s Nevermind, is regarded as one of the defining records of the era. Even though they have shied away from doing interviews and from even making many music videos, the band has sold more than 85 million albums worldwide.
