YOUR LIST OF “40 BADASS BLUES SOLOS” at guitarplayer.com is disappointing and blatantly racist. It is disrespectful to black artists and to African-Americans to select a bunch of white dudes for your top solos spots. In fact, only a couple of black players occupy your leading slots.
Anyone who knows blues knows the music originated with African-Americans, the pioneers of blues guitar were all black, and that many of the songs and licks subsequently laid down by white players were largely appropriated from their black predecessors. Looking at this article, my immediate thought is: “Where the hell are Albert Collins, the Kings, T-Bone Walker, Hubert Sumlin, Robert Johnson, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, Elmore James, Lonnie Johnson, Gatemouth Brown, Buddy Guy, Skip James, and, of course, Jimi Hendrix?”
