Move with the times
I do agree with your editor, Neil Tappin, about dress codes. I am still amazed that it is up there with slow play and the WHS as a topic of contention. In the same issue, your winning letter wrote about the desirability of new golfers understanding how to repair divots and rake bunkers. These issues are so much more important than what people wear.
Similarly, I do believe that all players wishing to enter competitions should show an understanding of the rules, which, at the end of the day, are designed to make the game fair for everyone. It is so easy to sit and pass the R&A level one rules exam, so why on earth isn’t it compulsory to do so?
